Key facts (need-to-know)
On three days of congress the theme "event in sport - marketing, management and financing" will be looked at from different viewpoints. Therefore a variety (of different) of forums will be offered to the participants out of the fields politics, media, science and business of sports.

Panel discussions
The highlights of the program of lectures will be two panel discussions, to which well known experts have been invited to discuss current themes out of the field "sport events". In addition to the discussions on the panel all participants will have the opportunity to take part actively.

Symposia
The symposia include two to three panel lectures, thematically dealing with different aspects of event management, for which famous national as well as international experts out of the field of science and commercial practice could already be attracted to the congress.

Subject related lectures
A scientific commission chose the best 15 out of 40 received abstracts regarding the theme "sport events". These short lectures offer a scientific perspective on the event topic. Current results of research, which have not yet been published, will be presented.

Workshops
Here examples out of the commercial practice of sport management will be introduced. This discussion forum will be formed by experienced individuals out of the sport business.

The Congress
Every two years practitioners and scientists descending from all different fields of sport business meet in Cologne to discuss current themes of sport management. Today the sport economy congress has approximately 500 participants and is therefore the biggest event of its kind in the world. The "Institute for sport economics and sport management at the German Sport University", beeing the host of the congress, strives towards a healthy cooperation between science and practice and hopes to enhance an intensive exchange of ideas of all occupational groups in sport management.

The Sport Business Trade Fair
This year the Institute for sport economics and sport management presents the first national "Sport Business Trade Fair" of Germany. It will take place parallel to the Congress and is a chance for industry, commerce, clubs and associations as well as agencies to establish business contacts and maintain existing networks. Furthermore the opportunity to get into touch with students and alumni from sport economical studies will be provided.
